Air Traffic Control Systems
For
over two decades, AES engineers and scientists have worked closely
with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to help continually
modernize the communications and navigation capabilities of the
organization that runs the nation's air traffic control network.
For the FAA, AES provides comprehensive Air Traffic Control system
engineering design and development support that encompasses
communications, navigation, and surveillance.

Cyber Assurance Innovative
Research & Solutions
AES is a leader in the
development of information assurance technologies that enable
secure networks for military, intelligence and law enforcement
customers. The company specializes in cyber security,
information assurance, and other related computer intelligence
services. We offer a wide range of custom-developed software to
assist clients in defining their security needs and policies
including:
Cross-Domain Information Sharing Solutions Development:
Developing, deploying, and supporting operational guarding
solutions for cross-domain information sharing systems.
Cross-Domain Information Sharing R&D: Designing, developing, and
fielding technology to facilitate information sharing between
security domains. Capabilities include out-bound document-based
information protection through our PuriFile software - a deep
inspection tool that finds hidden information in files and then
cleanses documents.
Information Systems Security Engineering: Analyzing, developing,
and supporting security-based certification and accreditation
standards and testing processes for computer-based information
systems.
Cyber Security: Analyzing information sharing systems for law
enforcement and homeland security.

Microwave Systems and
Processing
AES'
Microwave Systems unit is the world's premier supplier of
high-performance direct digital synthesizers and microwave systems.
Our products utilize the world's most advanced NCO chip and
proprietary technology to deliver exacting high-speed logic with low
phase noise, low spurious levels, and precise wideband microwave
performance.
Building on a
reputation of excelling in the world of digital synthesis, ITT
Microwave Systems offer complete integrated synthesizers and
communications subsystems for all your applications up to 30 GHz.
Custom solutions as well as off-the-shelf catalog products are
available.
AES'
facility in State College, Pennsylvania, designs and builds
state-of-the-art receiving subsystems using the latest in GaAs MMIC
components, thin-film and low temperature co-fired ceramics. Designs
include multi-chip modules and micro-electronic hybrids using the
latest in chip-and-wire techniques. ITT AES-State College also
produces a line of high dynamic front end receiving systems for HF
applications using feed-forward technology. The focus of the State
College facility is engineering development, prototypes, and
low-volume production.

Optical Communications
AES
designs and builds free space optical communications systems and
related analytical services in support of military special
communications requirements, where range, size, power and mobility
present unique challenges. Our 2.5 Gbps laser communications
terminal featuring a 16 mm transmit aperture, is distinctive in
having proven high rate optical communications over more than a km
from an inherently transportable system.
AES’
Free space Optical Communications Architecting System (FOCAS) has
contributed key insights into the design of optical communications
systems with long atmospheric propagation paths. BurstCom, an AES-patented
technique to provide reliable optical communications in the presence
of turbulent fading, has been shown to provide up to 5 dB of link
margin in high rate links where classic interleaving techniques are
untenable.

Space Systems
AES'
Space Technology Department provides advanced science and technology
services, and products to government, industrial, and commercial
customers.
AES
provides engineering support services to national and commercial
programs, including design, development, validation, operation, and
maintenance for LEO applications. We have over 35 years
experience providing customers with reliable and
cost-effective system solutions.
For
over 25 years, AES has provided a full range of RF communications
systems engineering support to NASA Goddard related to the TDRSS and
other NASA Space and Ground Network assets. This support
encompasses requirement assessment, architectural trade studies,
communications technology studies, conceptual designs, specification
development and procurement support, and math modeling and
communications performance analyses.

AES
fulfills spectrum management roles and performs communications and
spectrum analyses in support of the NASA Spectrum Managers. AES
plays a critical role in ensuring that quality RF spectrum is
available to NASA missions.
As
part of the spectrum management efforts, AES has performed analyses
on a variety of space communications topics including radio
frequency interference, frequency sharing, power spectral densities,
geographical distribution of interference, technology risk
assessment, visibility, and network coverage.
The
AES team works closely with NASA project offices in frequency
selection and management, spacecraft design, mission planning,
networks scheduling, and post-mission error analysis in order to
optimize RF performance and avoid data loss or degradation of the
communications links due to interference. |
